It’s about taking small, mindful steps to reduce single-use plastics and create cleaner streets, oceans, and communities. As a holistic dental practice, this initiative aligns closely with our values of sustainability, wellness, and whole-body health.
Rethinking Dental Habits: Sustainable Swaps
Many oral care products are made from plastic—think toothbrushes, floss containers, and toothpaste tubes. While these items are important for maintaining oral health, they don’t have to come at the expense of the environment.
Here are some eco-friendly swaps we recommend:
- Bamboo Toothbrushes: Compostable and biodegradable, bamboo brushes are a great alternative to plastic ones that can take over 400 years to break down.
- Plastic-Free Floss: Choose floss made from silk or biodegradable corn fiber, packaged in refillable glass containers or cardboard containers.
What We’re Doing at Holistic Dental Centre
This July, we’re taking additional steps in our clinic to reduce plastic waste:
- Offering bamboo toothbrushes and eco-floss for sale at reception.
- Partnering with Terracycle to collect used oral care products for recycling.
- Educating patients about sustainable oral care choices
